Flamboyant Casual Friday

We live in a society where money is the new sign of aristocracy. The differences between social classes has always existed since ancient Greece but has changed over centuries. Under my dear model’s reign, Marie-Antoinette, the aristocracy was on top of the social hierarchy. Nowadays the blue blood has been traded for the “green” blood. Money puts you on top of society and creates this new aristocracy based on wealth, whether you made yourself to the top or you were just born in a wealthy circle. With this new wealth some opportunities appeared to express yourself in way that “common” people would not be able to afford. Fashion is one of them. It has been used by the wealthiest young elite of Manhattan to appear flamboyant, exuberant. They display this image of cold-hearted and fashionable youth. Showing images of luxury, parties and fashion exuberance.

The Brant brothers are one of those young people who have it all from an external point of view. Sons of Peter M. Brant and model Stephanie Seymour, they are worth $2.7 billion, the brothers are to be seen at every fashion weeks and high parties with their other socialite friends. They look similar but have very different fashion styles. Peter Brant being the masculine face of the duo and Harry the more androgynous side. Harry loves playing with pieces from the masculine and feminine wardrobes when Peter cultivates a more bad boy look. They usually wear Balmain, Givenchy, Gucci and other prestigious brands. Moreover their father created The Brant Foundation Art Study Centre aimed to promote the understanding of contemporary art. Harry and Peter are relatively quite and do not make the headlines of people magazine. This also shows that the display of wealth as changed from its golden age with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. It seems to me that it became something more controlled and more “elegant” in the highest circles of NYC. Almost in a kind of artistic way and elegance.

There are countless other young socialites in the same circles. Not all of them are stylish but here are the more “fashion/artistic” ones.
